Normal mother

In the Dr. Joyce Brothers column in seattlepi.com, a woman and her two grown daughters issued the following complaint about the woman's daughter-in-law.
She refused to buy a crib, and wants to have the baby in bed with them. She has no strollers -- she says it is better to "wear" the baby wrapped on her body -- and no one is allowed to give her a bottle. There's more, but you get the idea. How can we get her to act like a normal mother?
Dr. Brothers replies by identifying "attachment parenting" and assures the women: "As long as a baby is brought up with a lot of love and attention--which your daughter-in-law seems to be dispensing in generous amounts--everything should be OK."

What is a normal mother, anyway?
